Jealousy

We all spend a large amount of time in the office. A third to half of our life to be exact. Another one-third of our life are usually spent on bed, making fermented saliva a.k.a 'air liur basi'.

Yeah, that's our life as one of the little mouse in this rat-race. Happily run frantically around this confusing maze as if we are able to find what we are looking for in here. Pity our puny little life.
But I'm not writing about this rat-race. That's a topic for another time. This writing is about 'jealousy'.

As we spend more time at work compared to at home, we tend to have more conversation with our co-workers, sub-ordinates, bosses, boss's secretaries, etc than with our other half and kids at home. We tend to understand those in the office more that we understand those at home. Conciously we and our other halves have to let it happend, and subconciously we all prepared to accept it like a religion - uncontested, undenied.

We accept, we adapt, and we don't mind. We just smile.

Then one day, we bring our other halves to one of those office functions. Be it an annual dinner, family day, or inter-department bowling tournament where he/she see how we are with those we spent most of our time with.

Then jealousy kicks in. A bit to some, a bit more to others.

In most cases, that feeling shall be shoved aside and we all put up our fake smiles and give out our fake laughs. But inside, our other halves felt really uncomfortable. Who are those strangers? How come they are so close to the other halves? This doesn't feel right and something is amissed...

Hmmmmmmm.... Is there any real issue here? Maybe not, because this jealousy usually doesn't last more than a couple of days. Or at least, it won't come back until the next office function... Sighhhh....
