Affair (Part 1)

I looked into her eye. Her left eye, not the right one. She looked elsewhere, avoiding mine. Somehow I knew she would do that. When making an eye contact during a conversation, most people will look either at the nose, forehead, area between the eyebrows or the right eye. Try to do the opposite and see what happen.

"Write about your affairs", she said. She had read my blog before. We talked and chat about some of 'em. That morning, we met for coffee for a second time at a cafe near Bukit Damansara. She's an avid cafe goer.

I gave a long pause. Actually, my head running into thinking, how am I going to write my past. That's a long past a long time ago that it seems like a different life.

"Which definition of affair? Your definition or mine?", I asked. In her definition, an affair is when a married person fall in love with another person and make a declaration of love. That declaration of love is a betrayal to the married person's spouse, she said.

My definition of an affair is simpler. As long as there is a physical intimacy and it is not a one-night-stand, it's an affair. Without physical intimacy, even when feelings is there, declared or not, it is not yet an affair.

Well... she can't agree with me and I can't agree with her. We are in a stale-mate. Phewwwww.... I'm safe. That means, until the definition of "affair" is established, I don't have to write anything... haha...

Or so I thought?

"So how many affair have you had?", She asked, curious. Has anyone told her that curiousity kills cats? Big cats, small cats, nice cats, weird cats, persian cats, siamese cats, kampung cats, stray cats - all get killed by curiosity. Someone should already told her that or she's not listening?

I paused again. "Must be a lot!!!!", she almost scream at me.

I smiled reluctantly, "Again, which definition of affair? Yours or mine?", I said in my defence. When you have that unpenetrable shield like that, you shall use it at all time because you know it shall save you. Stale-mate again. She can't checkmate me with that.

"What I can tell you is this. No matter which definition you go with, declared or undeclared, with or without physical intimacy, it shall hurt. It will hurt a lot when it ends."

That's all I said. I don't know if she understand it.

Maybe she does.

Maybe she has been there, somewhere in her past...
